Sign Ups Open + Instructions
Feb. 16th, 2020 07:21 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
FOR REQUESTS:
- You must pick at least 4 fandoms, but you may choose up to 10. For each fandom, you are required to choose a medium (fic, art, podfic), and at least one tag (a character or a relationship). The maximum amount of character/relationship tags you are allowed is 20.
- Fandoms must be unique. That means you cannot request the same fandom twice.
- You are very welcome to leave prompts and/or a letter to your writer in your sign up. However, your writer is only required to create something that fulfills the minimum requirements of your request (medium, fandom, and character/relationship).
- If you have DNWs, include them in your sign up form. If they're not in your sign up, they won't be enforced. If you receive a work that includes a DNW, a new creator will be arranged for your request. Please do get in touch if this happens to you!
- You may select "any" when choosing tags for a specific fandom. This means that your request can be assigned to any creator who offered any combination of tags in that fandom. Use that option wisely!
FOR OFFERS:
- You must offer at least 4 fandoms, maximum is 10. Your fandoms must be unique for offers as well.
- You must also offer a medium (remember you may choose more than one), and between 2 - 20 character/relationship tags for each fandom.
- "Any" is an option for offers as well. Again, be sure you really mean "any" when choosing that option. Double check the tagset!
- For fandoms with only one nominated character/relationship tag: the sign up form normally requires you to select at least two. If there is only one tag nominated in the fandom, that means you must select "any."

Nomination Clarification #2

Almost done! Sign ups will open once these last two fandoms have been decided on.
Lord Peter Wimsey - Dorothy Sayers
This series was continued by another author, the last novel being published in 2012. Are the new novels distinct enough to be counted as a separate canon?
天地無用! | Tenchi Muyo!
There are OVA series that have been released past 2010, but I can't tell if they're adaptations of the original manga, or sequels? Can someone please clarify?
Thank you!

Keep an eye on the community for any further clarification posts. As I work my way through approvals, it will also help if you point out any typos/duplicate tags, or other errors.

Nomination Clarification #1

Some more information needed on the following nominated tags!
Akira (Togainu no Chi)/Konoe (Lamento): These characters appear to be from two different fandoms, yet they were nominated under Togainu no Chi. If this is a crossover pairing, it needs to be nominated under Crossover Fandom!
And the following fandoms seem to be ineligible, unless I'm missing something. If there's ambiguity in the new material, or something I don't know, please speak up! Otherwise, feel free to go in and change your nominations so you don't lose your slots.
Death Note (Anime & Manga): There is a new chapter of Death Note due to be published next week.
Misfits TV: This show was on air until 2013, which would make it ineligible.
Wiedźmin | The Witcher Series - Andrzej Sapkowski: The last book in this series was published in 2013. Is it in the same continuity/contain the same characters?
Also, if you notice any typos, mistakes, or floating tags, do let me know so I can fix. Thank you, everyone!

Opening up a little early, since I won't have much time tomorrow morning. The tagset is here!
You may nominate up to 6 fandoms, with up to 8 tags (either a character, or a relationship).
& is for platonic. / is for romantic/sexual. Please don't mix them up! Combinations of & and / ARE allowed. (Example: Martha Wayne/Thomas Wayne & Bruce Wayne)
Please format solo character nominations as follows: Firstname Lastname & None. Rest assured - this means you are still matching on a single character! This is a workaround to make the AO3 interface accommodate the type of matching we're doing. So for example, to nominate James Kirk, please format your nomination as "James Kirk & None."
If you are nominating a crossover pairing, please include the canons in parentheses, and be sure to nominate it under Crossover Fandom. Example: James Kirk (Star Trek: TOS)/Aeryn Sun (Farscape)
Make sure you follow the community (or check in regularly) for clarification questions. Remember that you can still make a case for your borderline fandoms on the eligibility post up until the tagset closes on February 11.
Any questions, leave me a comment or shoot me an email at waybackexchange@gmail.com!

2020 Schedule + Eligibility Post
Jan. 16th, 2020 03:14 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Hi there, and welcome back! I had a fun time last year, so let's go for a second round, shall we? Below is the schedule for 2020 - modified slightly so that reveals are sliiiightly earlier.
Eligibility Review Period: January 16 - 28
Nominations: January 28 - February 11
Sign Ups: February 16 - March 1
Assignments will be sent by: March 6
Works due: April 30
Works Revealed: May 14, 9 AM MST
Authors Revealed: May 21
The pinned FAQ post, as well as the DW profile, has been updated with the 2020 schedule. Remember, for this year's round, the new cut off for fandoms is December 31, 2010. A new decade!
This post will also function as the eligibility post, for any fandoms you wish to nominate that you believe are on the line. Fandoms that were accepted last year will be automatically accepted this year, no need to make a case for those. The tagset is here if you wish to take a look.
When making your case, please include the canon's full name (as you would nominate it in the tagset), the date(s) of all the canon material that has been released, and your reasoning as to why I should accept it. Here's an example:
In cases of tie-in comics and novels, my rule of thumb is: 1. are the tie-ins well known? 2. are they by the same creators? and 3. does it clearly follow the original canon in terms of continuity/characters? If the answer is "no" to at least two of these, I won't consider them as disqualifying material. If you disagree with me about a particular judgment call, feel free to point out why - I'm not super familiar with everything, and Google can only do so much!
Lastly: you can comment here anonymously, and commenting here with your fandom does not qualify as an actual nomination. The tagset/collection for 2020 are not up yet, but I will add links to the pinned post once they are.

When making your case, please include the canon's full name (as you would nominate it in the tagset), the date(s) of all the canon material that has been released, and your reasoning as to why I should accept it. Here's an example:
Ella Enchanted - Gail Carson Levine (1997)
A prequel, Ogre Enchanted, was published in 2018. While the events of Ogre take place in the same timeline/continuity, it follows a main character who did not appear in Ella. The main cast of Ogre is for the most part completely separate, apart from two characters (their identities being spoilers) who were extensively mentioned in Ella, but appeared only briefly in the original book. Therefore, I feel as if the two novels should be considered separate canons.
